PMTDX-Group Founded 26/4/99
(Unbeknown to us) MW0JZE & G5XW The PMTDX-Group (Purple Mug Team DX Group) Came about purely by accident, like all other groups it was due to radio op's getting together and doing SES, SOTA's, IOTA's & DX's. This was the start of it on one of these trips. It involved a /P camping trip, so the normal stuff was taken for these sort of trips non breakable items were carried and a plastic Purple mug was brought by 1 of us (JZE) on this trip, (its first IOTA 26/4/99) it made it thought the trip with just a couple of scuffs but upon clearing away it ended up in my (XW) rucksack. Due to the distance between the "founders" it was agreed there was no need to send/post it back but agreed to hand it over in person upon the next meeting or trip. In the mean time the new holder had decided that a SOTA should be done from Pen-Y-Fan, the highest point in southern UK (August 99) the said mug made another trip and stayed with the same person during and after the trip so still needing to be returned to its owner. Due to this now becoming a small joke the mug then travelled on another small IOTA trip to GU in late 99. Since then, laughing and joking we agreed to call ourselves the The PMTDX-Group. The mugs past and present holders have now been to or been involved in trips to GU, GJ, SV5, SU, GW, GM, PA, SP, F, ZK1, EA, K/W, EA6, DL, FO, OM, 8Q & 4S. If you would like to join in all we request is that you send a photo to one of the above "founders" (via QRZ.com or Bureau), of you and your Purple mug whether it be plastic, clay or best china proving your location and date, Outside your country/call zone, and it will be loaded on to the site. A small simple certificate will be issued to confirm membership upon receiving the first photo. Please enclose call sign, name & return ad for certificate and future info This is open to all persons with an active interest in radio, upon “founders” discretion A small $1 contribution with just your first photo towards the PMT dx site maintenance would be greatly received.
